“In the past twenty-five years, Prabhat Khabar has organized hundreds of programs, yet this will remain permanently etched in our memories,” said Mr. K.K. Goenka, the CEO of Prabhat Khabar, the newspaper that organized a book launch for The Journey Home. The event was held at the Gymkhana club grounds in Ranchi, India, on December 24th, 2013.
“The satisfaction we have obtained by our interactions with Radhanath Swami surpasses all our previous experiences. After reading The Journey Home, I feel it is rare to find another living example of such courage and conviction,” concluded Goenka in his words of thanks.
Prabhat Khabar, the most read newspaper of the Indian state of Jharkhand, has a circulation of 2.5 million, is published in ten cities and is spread over four states. Many of the most distinguished city members – including police commissioners, joint secretaries, senior government officials and IAS officers – attended the event.
R.K. Dutta, the Managing Director of Prabhat Khabar, welcomed Radhanath Swami, and Mr. Hari Vamsha, the Chief Editor, introduced him before the two-thousand-plus audience. At the press conference before the event, Mr. Hari Vamsha expressed the need to revive human values in society. “Radhanath Swami has done commendable service in bringing back values in society. The Journey Home is a lighthouse that can guide us in social reform.”
In addition to sharing stories from The Journey Home, Radhanath Swami said to the large gathering, “Tonight, billions all over the world are celebrating Christmas. The non-sectarian message of Jesus to love God is also proclaimed in the Bhagavat Purana: ‘love for God unmotivated by any selfishness or egoism and uninterrupted by any circumstances will actually give us real, lasting pleasure.’”
Almost all local television channels and newspapers covered the event, and the front page headlines of Prabhat Khabar read, “Real happiness is to Love and be Loved.” The news channels covering the event also interviewed men and women of Ranchi. Harish Bhatia, a young business man, commented, “After hearing from him (Radhanath Swami) I can truly appreciate that the essence of all great spiritual paths is the same.”
