On June 28 and 29, 2011, Metro Detroit became home to two scintillating public events by Radhanath Swami – eminent scholar, a great spiritual leader. A team of doctors, engineers and other professionals came together to conduct two spectacular book-release programs: one at Grosse Pointe Farms and the other one at Royal Oak, Michigan. Radhanath Swami released his autobiography “The Journey Home” to packed audiences at both locations.

Both of these book-release events were attended by several enthusiasts filled beyond capacity – Grosse Pointe Farms’ War Memorial center with 350 and Historic Royal Oak Music theatre with 1100, a record of its kind. As it stands, the metro Detroit events have exceeded any other book introduction events worldwide in terms of attendance. Both events were chaired by several dignitaries including Michigan Congressman, City Mayors, Major-hospital CEOs, top businessmen and others. Radhanath Swami gave very inspirational speeches with vivid details about his journey as a Jewish kid from a mid-western city to mystical and spiritual India. He mesmerized audiences with elaborate details of his encounters with nature, people of various religions, cultures and classes. He revealed his humble lessons learned along his journey to the spiritual land of India.

The entire audiences at both locations were captivated by Swami’s insightful, motivational speeches. Scores of guests formed long lines after the events to talk to Swami and to have him personally sign their copies of “The Journey Home”. After the events, several dignitaries and guests shared with us their heartfelt thoughts and comments:

“What a great way to end the day!” – Mr. James Saxton – CEO and President of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital “I am extremely fortunate to have been part of this event” – Dr. Mark Weber, President of Gross Pointe War Memorial center

“It was an awesome experience that was worth driving 1 1/2 hrs for! The energy that he radiated was very uplifting and calming. Thank you so much for letting us know” – Dr. Nilesh Kotecha, Neurosurgeon

“I enjoyed the evening…Swami’s talk was insightful and entertaining. He captured the attention of the audience for the whole hour. Clearly he was a great salesman for the book! The meeting was organized very well and the location couldn’t be better. Thanks to all those who worked hard to make this happen.” – Dr. Chandrasekhar, Neurologist, Detroit Medical Center

Grosse Pointe Farms program took place in the scenic ballroom overlooking Lake St. Clair at the Grosse Pointe War memorial, whereas Royal Oak program took place at the state of the art engineered Royal Oak Music Theatre in downtown Royal Oak. Both programs had free admission, with free vegetarian feast, ecstatic soul music led by Gaura Vani and Indian classical dance performance.
